Orchid Update

Most of you may recall that Blanche, our lovely orchid plant, had fulfilled her promise of producing beautiful flowers from each and every bud she had when she showed up (a present from my sister). And after all the blooms were open, we resigned ourselves to watching her eventually lose petals from these gorgeous blossoms...

Ooops, wait a minute! She's not done!!

As the photo tries to show, she's started new stems off the existing ones -- one new stem on each of the two she came with.

So, who's the clever girl now?

  5. Hey look – not only new stems, but new buds too! Talk about continual rebirth.

Randy, Deb....I think Blanche is a visible expression of the love, light and life force flowing through your home – from down under and up over, from next door and down the street and far and wide, and especially from within. How perfect to have all this healing love made visible to you both every day by this elegant, more sensitive species.

(Did you know – okay I know Deb knows because we talked about it – that orchids are considered the most highly evolved plants on earth? My old botany professor Don Ritchie used to call them "the human beings of the plant kingdom.")

So now I'm searching the Internet for some expression that would be the flipside of "Canary in a coal mine" – you know, some healing-life-force counterpart to that same sensitive-species idea – and I’m not finding anything. I move, therefore, that we hereby coin: "Orchid on the Lyons' porch."

(No doubt this expression will evolve within a hundred years into "Orchid on the lion's porch," but I kinda like the sound of that.)

    Onward and upward,
    Lisa

  6. I believe what Lisa is looking for is Blanche's ability to channel the bad cells out of Randy, "chemo-synthesize" them and use the resulting positive energy to grow more evolved fowers. Happens all the time I have no doubt about it.

  7. Randy, Deb (and Lisa),

I agree! I think Blanche is an indication of how healthy and life-enhancing your environment truly is...She indicates the positive life-Force, God-Force, and Health within each of your bodies as well! She loves you too, and you love her...So Sweet.

    Love,

    Diane

PS thanks for posting about Blanche. I've missed her.
